JCB requires no introduction as the world leading manufacturer of industrial machinery and vehicles, being easily recognised by their bright yellow cabs and diggers.
Our solution
As part of their production line for cab manufacturing, JCB used Solenoid Controllers to test the robustness and quality of cab doors. This system, however, was difficult to use and not very efficient as operators would need to copy in and out lines of code. Code which none of them really understood or otherwise needed to know. Additionally, results where recorded on paper which in itself is very inefficient, and the nature of this system made it awkward and time consuming to upgrade as parts changed and processes moved on.
JCB’s Previous System:
- Used Solenoid Controllers to test the robustness and quality of cab doors.

- Results were recorded on paper, which was inefficient.

Our Team’s Solution:
- Built JCB a bespoke Solenoid Controller and SQL database to fully automate the test.
- Manufactured a total of 5 units.
- Simplified the process for operators, allowing them to click a button instead of typing code.
- The database not only automated the test but also replaced paper records by automatically saving results to the database.
